Personal Entry-Jessica López

My own challenges in life are:
First of all is to be a better person, be responsible, a good familiar, over come my self.
The goals I want to achieve are:
To be a singer, professional dancer, actress or being an astronaut, because it's awesome to me all the thins that are in common to the stars.
I admire to much my mom, she's like the kind of person that I would like to be.
The change I want to make in the world it's that people stop judging the other ones just about what they see, think or another person tell them. I want to make new discoveries in the world, like finding life in another world  or can travel to another planet, I know that for that they need to pass many years but I have hope. And in the world of super star, to show to the other singers, etc. that not everyone need to take drugs or get drunk to have fun or to solve their problems or also to be more famous on the magazines and in their social world. That you can be famous as Michael Jackson by not doing that kind of things.

The goals I want to achieve in life are graduate from college, study medicine in another country, have a family, visit Australia and speak perfectly english. I admire my father because he worked very hard to support the family so my brothers and I could study in a private bilingual school so i could learn perfectly english, this would help me a lot if I want to study or work in another country who speaks english, I also admire my mother because he worked 24 hrs, 365 days without taking a break, she always takes care of me and my brothers, she help us with the things we don't understand and she always is there for us. The change I want to see in the world is that people start thinking a little about the nature because without the nature the humans cannot longer exist.

Teenagers that act

So as you have seen it, bullying is a very big problem which covers many aspects in our lives and we must do something about it. Starting trusting ourselves, helping our community. For example we can inspire actions, from a small act there can be a chain reaction. The teenager we present is called Shawn Mendez. He is a singer born in Canada and is 16 years old. He was born on August 8th; 1998. He's a plays guitar and piano.

We chose Shawn Mendes because on 2013 he started making vines of covers of popular songs, and he just gained millions of viewers in months. In 2014 he was discovered by Andrew Gertler, he brought Shawn to many important places in the world of music; such as Canada, U.S.A, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Spain and Switzerland. He really made a big impact in society, inspiring many teen agers to follow their dreams, not being afraid of trying to make them true, because everything is possible.

He has the IB profiles of risk-taker, good communicator, and caring. Because he followed his dreams and inspired people. He also showed interest in internationality and learned 2 other more languages so now he speaks three different languages. He too offered a concert alongside other music stars to collect founds for The Salvation Army. Now acting against bullying he has joined the campaign of the organization Do Something posting different notes to warm up and improve the self-steem of people who look themselves in the mirror.

Bullying In The World & Real Life Cases

Did you knew that 1 in 4 teachers see nothing wrong with bullying and will only intervene 4% of the time? The organization Do Something which has different groups in different parts of the world informs us about this worrying statistics. Approximately 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying. 90% of 4th through 8th graders report being victims of bullying. Can we just stop and realize the meaning of these numbers, PEOPLE 90% OF CHILDREN IN THEIR EARLY YEARS REPORT BULLYING. The worst part is not a lot of people are doing a great deal to change this issue, and for those people doing nothing is like the problem doesn't even exist but for the victims is an everyday challenge.

Now you may say, but that's the rest of the world maybe it's not that bad here. Let me give you some information then. The panorama goes like this... Mexico is in the first place of international bullying statistics, and NO it does not goes like "Yeii! We are the first in this, it means we did something about it." We got this place because we ignore the problem and it is becoming worse each day. CNN-Mexico, reports the Mexican press indicates that the practice has grown by 10% in the recent two year period of 2011-2013. Also it is indicated that about 6 out of 10 kids are not being treated fairly and are receiving negative influences in their lives.

Besides the problem is not limited to the contact with the schools since the technologies have evolved to create a new kind of bullying which occurs through internet and the user of social media is constantly receiving negative messages through posts of their classmates. This is called cyber-bullying.

CNN reports that a teenager in Canada committed suicide. Her name was Amanda Todd. She was pressured to take pictures and films of herself, at the end she did it. Those videos and pictures where in Facebook and many of her classmates started to make her both bullying in school and cyberbullying. She moved out but at the end her videos and pictures leaked into her new life destroying everything she had, bullying came back and after a previous attempted suicide she ended up with her live living a testimony in YouTube. Here the video.

WE ARE LOSING OUR HUMANITY, TAKE AN ACTION STOP BULLYING
